How to Make Rabbit Researching Fun

Since researching can get pretty boring, here are some ways to make researching more interesting, fun, and relaxing while still getting it done.

Ways to Make Researching Fun

  • Take breaks in between
  • Watch YouTube videos on rabbit care
  • Look at different sanctuaries/shelters, adoption centers that you want to get your rabbit from as a break session
  • Look at different breeds
  • Keep the fact that you could be getting a rabbit as your inspiration
  • Research when your happy

Why Do These Matter?

When you take breaks and look through different shelters on free time, it’s easier to keep going. When you also research when your happy, it makes it easier to continue because it’s a happy and positive thing. By watching YouTube videos, it gives so much to look for when researching for rabbits. There are also very cute rabbit videos for when you are taking breaks.

How to Stay Positive When Researching

  • Watch cute rabbit videos
  • Encourage yourself to keep going
  • Remember that good will come off all the research

Researching is fun if you make it fun. Just remember to always stay positive and researching will be way more smooth and simple!

Thank you for coming back once again for another post. I’ll talk to you again in two days. Until then, share this post with you family and friends.

How Can Research Improve a Rabbit’s Lifespan?

Since research has been the topic lately, I would like to go over how it can lengthen a rabbit’s lifespan.

How Does it Work?

Rabbits need a lot of different types of relationships to stay healthy and avoid as much stress as possible. By doing research you would know:

  • Some rabbits are very hostile and that territories are a big factor in bonding issues
  • Rabbits need to go through sessions of bonding
  • Stress in rabbits can kill them
  • Etc.

This can go on for other topics such as:

  • Bedding
  • Food
  • Health
  • Medical
  • Playing time
  • Bunny proofing
  • Etc.

What the Gist of All of This is

By researching, rabbits will get the proper care they need and deserve. When research is not done properly, rabbits end up dead in a couple years because they weren’t fed properly, where housed inappropriately, etc. Rabbits are thrown out all of the time because they are high maintenance, which would have been recognized it the owner did their research.

So all in all, when something happens unexpected to a rabbit, it’s usually because someone didn’t do research, so just make sure you spend the time to do your research and keep your rabbit safe.

Thank you for coming back once again. Please share this with your family and friends and come back every other day for a new post.

How to Make a Research Layout

Since researching is so important, you will want to make sure that it is neat, organized, and that you are prepared with all of the categories needed.

An Example of a Layout:

Food

Veggies: Types, amounts, when and how often fed, etc.

Pellets: Brand, amounts, nutrition, etc.

Water: Cleaning times, bowls, etc.

Treats: DIY, Oxbow, fresh fruit, etc.

Cleaning

Solution: 50/50, etc.

Litter boxes: What litter, types of litter boxes, cleaning boxes, etc.

Laundry: When it will be washed, detergent, what to avoid.

Bedding

Shopping: Joann’s, convenience store, etc.

Type of bedding: Towels, fleece, mats, etc.

Grooming

Shedding: containing it, what to do to help, etc.

Materials: Brush (DIY?)

Shedding times per year, etc.

Cage

Size: Width, Length, Height: minimum

Materials: DIY?, What is safe, etc.

Keeping cage clean, where to put it, etc.

At Home Safety Kit

Materials, what they do, where to keep it, etc.

Others

Organization: On top of cage, on shelves, etc.

Bonding: With a new rabbit, with two or more rabbits together, tactics, etc.

Transportation: Carriers, packing, etc.

Containing stress, researching different medical problems, etc.

*Just keep in mind that this is an outline. This does not give the information details that are needed to keep a healthy rabbit. If you would like to use this outline, go ahead, that’s what it’s here for.

Thank you for coming back again today for a new post. Please continue to share this with your family and friends. Please come back every other day for a new post and I will talk to you then, bye.

Examples of Unreliable Resources

As a contrast to my last post, I would like to go over some sources that may not be all that reliable for proper rabbit care. I would encourage anyone researching to look primarily at the different options I gave in my last post, and to try to stay away from these options. If you haven’t seen my last post, make sure to check it out.

Some Examples:

  • Pet store employees
  • An inexperienced rabbit breeder
  • Rabbit care pamphlets from pet stores
  • Any random person who may have gotten secondary information

Why Are These So Dangerous?

When these different types of rabbit care sources come out, many people will see these different suggestions. Mos,t if not all of the examples above will give advice which would be on the cheaper scale. Even though everyone likes to save some money, from the start, that researcher should have known that they were getting them self in a situation causing them to have spend a lot of money to give proper care, which is the problem. The moment a new rabbit owner gets improper advice, they are going to follow what they were told if not told otherwise, causing many problems. This could include, bad diets, bad housing, improper handling, and more. If proper care was given, the rabbit wouldn’t have to go through so much stress and bad care to live their life.

What You Can Do About It

  • If someone tells you something you know they have wrong, correct them nicely and explain the problem in what they had said
  • Put out you own proper information and share it with everyone along with backup information
  • Find others to back you up and show that to that person if they don’t believe you
  • When in doubt, just ask your vet for advice and help the vet get a hold of that person if needed.
  • Don’t forget to always be kind in doing this!

My Advice For Anyone Shy But Wants to Stick Up Against An Unreliable Resource:

If you are like me, a very shy but persevere person, I would encourage you to take my advice of using other resources to back you up and support you while correcting that person’s mistakes. Make sure to be kind and fight what is right!

Thank you once again for coming back. I will be addressing more on resources, so stay tuned for that. Please share this with your family and friends to spread proper rabbit care, that way unreliable resources don’t have to be a problem 😉 As long as you come back, I will talk to you in two days, bye.

What Are Examples of Reliable Resources When Researching Rabbit Care?

Now that I am going into depth about researching rabbit care, I would like to start anyone who is currently starting their researching in the right path by giving reliable resources to research from.

Some Reliable Resources Include:

  • Binky Bunny
  • House Rabbit Society
  • Rabbit forums
  • Rabbit Veterinarian sites
  • Other rabbit owners advice (you know the basics already)
  • Rabbit product Company
  • YouTubers
  • Blogs
  • Rabbit Caretakers/Shelters/Adoption centers/Sanctuaries
  • Rabbit care books written by vets (not from petstore)

How Do I Know They Are Reliable?

Any reliable resource will be able to be:

  • Backed up by at least two other resources when a fact is stated
  • Will be ran by someone who is experienced in rabbit care (professional or a rabbit owner)
  • If the person works with rabbits and takes care of them properly, they can be trusted

Why Does It Matter If the Source is Reliable or Not?

If a resource is not reliable, you won’t know if the information is true and if the thought that you know proper rabbit care is actually true. Rabbits are very complex, needy and reliant animals, and without proper support, death to these precious animals is easy, one simple topic that wasn’t properly addressed could kill a rabbit. This isn’t only for rabbits, this is for all animals. All animals need the proper care that they deserve, so why wouldn’t rabbits get that same amount of attention?

Thank you for coming back for this post. If there are more reliable rabbit care sites that I missed, make sure to leave a comment so that I can make sure to add it into this post. Share this post with all of your friends and family to support proper rabbit care. I will talk to you in two days, bye.

Intro to Researching for Rabbit Care

Now that we are back on track, I thought a good way to get back would be explaining the basics of how you may want to research for rabbits (if you would be getting one). I recommend starting research right away, even if you don’t know if you’ll be allowed to have a rabbit, research, it gives the rights to show knowledge.

Why Researching is Important

  • Gives knowledge to succeed
  • Could save the rabbit’s life
  • Allows a proper life for the rabbit

What I will be Going Over Relating to Researching:

  • What sources are reliable
  • What sources are unreliable
  • How to determine a reliable resource
  • What to look for when researching (remake)
  • How can a rabbit live longer if a new rabbit owner does proper research?
  • How to make a research layout
  • Ways to make researching fun
  • My strategies to researching and the relations I make

Thank you for coming back for this brief post. I just wanted to show what the upcoming posts will show and what to be ready for. Talk to you again in two days, bye.

How Rabbits Help the Environment (Earth Day Special Post)

As a special post for Earth Day, I would like to address how much rabbits do for the environment. I don’t think there is a single thing that they do bad for the environment, so I would like to show everything good that they do.

What They Do For the Environment

  • Make compost
  • Graze on natural resources
  • Their stools are great as fertilizer

How Do These Actions Help?

By rabbits going by their natural schedule, rabbits naturally accumulate a lot more compost than expected. Compost is great for the environment by giving fertile soil for gardening and the ground in general. The compost can also be used for potted plants to give nutrition and a healthy life to that plant. Plants are needed for human life, so why wouldn’t plants be supported? Along with that, rabbits are naturally grazers of natural resources like grass, bark (in the winter), herbs, etc. By going this, the grass will be plentiful, but won’t overgrow too dramatically. Rabbits can’t stop overgrowing, but they aren’t in need of eating processed food, which can lead to better air for all organisms.

Why Does it Matter What Rabbits Do For the Environment?

Just like how it matters what we do for the environment, the same goes for rabbits. All living organisms provide a link to some sort of way of providing good to the earth. Rabbits benefit the the wild animals along with the domestic, naturally give fertilizer, and provide a chance for compost, giving nutrition the plants needed for all of us to survive.

Thank you for coming back once again. I will be going back to my usual every other day posts now. I will talk to you in two days, bye.

Great Prop Alternatives for Easter Photo Shoots

First of all, happy Easter everyone, I hope your Easter was amazing, so why not cram in another post? Today, I will be discussing ways to substitute out live rabbits for a nice prop.

What to Use Instead of a Live Animal?

  • Stuffed animal
  • An Easter basket
  • Chocolate bunny
  • Peeps
  • Green Screen

How Does This Affect Anything?

By doing this the following could be prevented:

  • Harm towards the rabbit/live animal
  • Lack on space for the live animal to roam
  • Lack of care knowledge/slacking off
  • Improper care towards the rabbit and it’s surroundings

The Results

By doing this, rabbis don’t have be stored in tiny cages all day at a mall where people don’t know proper care. Then, the rabbit is let out for a couple minutes for a photo shoot, then tossed back into a cage too small to flop in (not that they would be happy enough to flop anyway). The rabbit will be more active, happy, and appreciative for what it has and will show that through it’s personality if given the proper space and care. Cooping up a rabbit for too long can cause distress, boredom, and destruction. Rabbits are meant to be social and friendly pets, which is hard to achieve if they are locked away from human interaction.

Thank you for coming for this Easter’s post. I will be posting tomorrow for Earth Day, so make sure to come back then. I will talk to you then, bye.

The Cure of Head Tilt

Head tilt can’t be an easy situation to deal with, which is why you would want to get your rabbit out of it’s pain by curing the head tilt, but is it really that easy? Today, I will be going over if there is a cure for head tilt and the details of the process .

How Is Head Tilt Even Caused?

  • Ear infection: What will happen is when the rabbit ends up with an ear infection. The rabbit will often lift the infected ear up to keep dust, dirt, and other objects out of it. Once the infection is treated, some rabbits will still be stuck with their head in that position, causing head tilt.
  • Parasite: The same way as the ear infection.
  • Genetics: The rabbit is born with a trait of a crooked neck. This may be by ancestry or just the genetic compounds
  • Birth Defect: Of course there is always the possibility that this was all caused by troubles in the womb. The rabbit may have been developing in the womb and was then smashed to one side with the neck wrenched to the side, causing permanent damage.
  • Bacterial infection: The same way as the ear infection.

What Are Some Ways to Help a Rabbit’s Head Tilt Without a Cure?

  1. Assisted feeding
  2. Fluid support
  3. Giving easy access to everything
  4. Giving a good place to rest

What Are Some Cures To Head Tilt?

There isn’t an actual full out cure to head tilt. Even though therapy, medications, assist feeding, and fluid support can really help, these actions won’t get rid of the head tilt, though it may be less painful and the angle may not be as dramatic.

The Process to Helping a Rabbit With Head Tilt

  1. Giving assisted feeding all throughout the day to ensure a healthy bunny
  2. Fluid support to keep the rabbit hydrated
  3. Give full attention when time is spared
  4. Bring the rabbit to therapy as much as possible to correct the angle little by little, but not completely
  5. Allow access to a “soft spot” resting area for the rabbit

I know that there isn’t much to the “cure” of head tilt, but doing these daily steps can improve the rabbit’s energy and give a longer lasting, better life to the rabbit.

Thank you for coming to the final post of this series on head tilt. I will be posting tomorrow for another Easter post and on Earth Day for an Earth Day post. Please share this post with all of you friends and family and leave a like for all of the rabbits struggling with head tilt to be supported. I will talk to you again tomorrow, bye.

Why Are Easter Photo shoots Using Rabbits For Props?!

In relation to LennontheBunny’s video on YouTube, I would like to address the problem of malls luring people into a photo shoot through having kids’ pictures taken with bunnies. If you have watched her video, you would know that there were posters in the mall advertising the photo shoot as a time with live bunnies, but the behind the scenes shows the harm unrecognized.

What Was This All About?

If you haven’t watched the video, I would recommend watching it, but what really happened was that one of Lorelei’s Instagram followers tagged her showing pictures from this photo shoot in the local mall. The pictures showed an advertisement with a toddler looking down at a baby bunny, the sign saying “live bunnies, book now.”

What Really Was Wrong With This Situation?

On the Instagram of the leasing agent for the mall, there was a picture posted from the event. Not one of of the photos from the photographer, no, they showed a picture of a rabbit in a cage, most likely a bird cage.

The Evidence From the Behind the Scenes That Shines Bad Character on the Company…

  • The cage was tiny, had a wire bottom, and isn’t suitable for any lifestyle
  • The rabbits weren’t fed properly
  • The water was in a bottle
  • The bunnies were only let out when they were in photo shoots

What Was Found on the Photography Website?

  • Multiple more pictures of kids and toddlers with these bunnies
  • A video showing kids, toddlers, and an INFANT with these poorly taken care of bunnies

What Was Found on Yelp Reviews?

  • People are paying 100’s of dollars for these photos to be taken
  • The reviews have been recorded back to 2010, almost a decade. This could mean that this photography studio has been doing it for longer
  • The people at the studio were unable to properly handle one of the bunnies, showing that nobody had experience with these bunnies from this company

What Was Wrong With the Advertising?

  1. The bunny was only supervised by the toddler… very safe, I know *sarcasm
  2. They were luring people in with a sign saying live bunnies
  3. The photos were very convincing, making the business seem innocent
  4. The website shows a video along with all of the pictures being of young kids, toddlers and infants handling these rabbits

Why Does Portrait Simple Use Babies and Toddlers?

  • To lure people in
  • It’s cute and makes the process seem “innocent”
  • Since many parents like to keep a memory book of their babies, Portrait Simple is taking advantage of that

Why is Portrait Simple Still Going?

  1. The company makes 1,000’s each year
  2. The mall supports the company, causing people to think it’s okay
  3. The company is supported only because people think the photos are cute

Just so you understand…

I am not trying to hate on Portrait Simple. There are many companies that will take advantage of rabbits and chicks to be props for Easter photos. One of the companies can’t do Easter photo shoots anymore because pictures were spilled of rabbits being held by the ears and chicks being held by the legs, dangling. Like said in the video, if cats and dogs were used like this, people would protest. Why is this okay for rabbits? You can just get a stuffed animal and call it good. There are families that have young children and rabbits, and that’s okay, as long as the children are supervised no matter what with the bunnies. The children shouldn’t be the owners, but they can still be with them, still needing proper care and love.

Thank you for coming back for this post. There is so much to take for granted for this video that was made, it really shows what we can do as the rabbit community to prevent this from continuing. If you can, please make sure to check out the video. By searching “Lennon the Bunny Easter, the first video should be the one I was referring to, if not, leave me a comment and I will post the link to the video for you. Come back tomorrow for a new post and I will talk to you then, bye.
